Exclusive Leather & Skins are proud suppliers and distributors of Zebra Skins, carefully selected according to their colour, size and grade, which is determined by the imperfections on its skin.
We have excellent relationships with and source only top quality Zebra Skins from the leading tanneries in South Africa as well as Namibia.
We currently provide Zebra Skins from two Zebra species:
It’s named after the British explorer and naturalist William John Burchell. Common names include bontequagga, Burchell’s zebra, Damara zebra, and Zululand zebra (Gray, 1824). Burchell’s zebra is the only subspecies of zebra that might be lawfully farmed for human consumption in the united kingdom.
Like plains zebras, males and females are comparatively the same size. Year round reproduction found in Etosha National Park, Namibia in this subspecies, reasons synchronization of a time funds between females and males, perhaps explaining the lack of sexual dimorphism.
Gray (1824), found a distinctive dorsal line, the tail just bristly at the end, and the body clearly white. The dorsal line is narrow and becomes slowly wider in the hinder part, clearly margined with white on each side.
Hartmann’s mountain zebra (Equus zebra hartmannae) is a subspecies of the mountain zebra discovered in far southwestern Angola and western Namibia. Hartmann’s mountain zebras favor to live in little groups of 7-12. They are agile climbers and can live in steep mountainous land and arid conditions.
It’s been asserted that Hartmann’s mountain zebra should be considered a separate species from the Cape mountain zebra, but this is not supported by genetic evidence.
Hartmann’s mountain zebra have broad black stripes on an off white body. The stripes extend down the legs to narrow hooves, but do not meet on the abdomen. The mane is erect, short and bristle-like.
